Don't ever give up!

Chris trying to clear the proposed area for the pond!!

Starting the pond 26th July 2005

The digging is finished 27th July 2005

The underlay goes down on a bed of sand 15th December 2005

Starting to fill 15th December 2005 - we just beat the wind and the rain to get it finished

Within an hour of this photo being taken the wind got up and it started to pour with rain - and the sides tried to blow back into the pond - I had to rush out and put slabs on the plastic and also rescue some liner and a pallet that had decided to get back into the water - at least it will fill quicker!!!

22nd December 2005

Thursday 30th March 2006.

The rocks - about 8 tonnes have been put in place the liner and underlay cut and now we just need the grass to grow and Ruth to plant some more flowers!!!!

And the pics below show the eco ladder for wildlife to get in and out of the pond - aren't we thoughtful!

We bought the liner from Fawcetts Pond Liners we were unable to source the size that we wanted in France as the sizes we could find were either too small or industrial and far to large. After much research they came up with the best quote and were very helpful, to save cost the liner and underlay were delivered to Cyril's in the UK and another friend who lives in France brought it all back on a return trip.

We then had to wait for a break in the weather to allow for no wind and some dry days to be able to install it. Now it is done we a re very happy - if you also plan a pond a little larger than the average give them a call - it cant do any harm.

Our pond is 12 metres x 9 metre and 60% is 1 metre deep the balance being 1/2 metre deep - the last pond we put into Kite Grove - both the boys said it would have to be the last - but as we have the space here I have taken advantage and gone for the largest that will fit without taking over the whole garden

2006 will see the planting and the arrival of the goldfish - one of the neighbours suggested some trout - to much trouble!! Well who knows
