First the demolition

When we bought the house the little barn was on the point of collapse - due to water getting into the wall and the effect of ice breaking down the joints.

A friend from England who lives out here came to the rescue and within 6 working days took the old roof off and took down the back wall and re-built it and put on the new roof.

There was a some dry rot in the chevrons and main joists - Paul saved 4 of the joists and also the A frame roof beams - the oak was hardly touched.

It is now in perfect condition and will be ready to house the animals in 2006.

The Goat Hilton

After some small modifications one half of the barn is now accepting visitors 19.01.2006 Corrie & Ron's goats came for a holiday - they will hopefully produce one kid each at the end of March

Fitting a door to prevent the rain getting in

Laid a front step so the animals have somewhere to stand it the ground gets very waterlogged

(in 2 days laid about 1.25 tonnes of concrete around the barn - all mixed by hand - never again)

Built a bed and a manger

Built a barrier to keep the birds and the goats apart at night

First attempt at making a barn door! - the top half to follow!!!
